TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - It was a special thank you to first responders this morning as the Leon County Sheriff's Office held its annual appreciation luncheon for law enforcement and emergency personnel.

The luncheon is held every year since the 9/11 terror attacks.

The program included remarks from Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil and former state attorney Willie Meggs.

Members of the Tallahassee Police, fire and EMS departments, along with Leon County deputies, were recognized for their hard work serving the community.

"Responders from all over the country upped their ante and upped their awareness on terrorism and our ability to respond to terrorism activities as well as natural disasters," said Lt. Grady Jordan with the Leon County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office says the event falls in line with their All-In Campaign.
