TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - As technology gets faster and better for most users, those will older devices might be feeling the effects of new updates.

Many people with older iPhones such as the iPhone 6 have seen their phones decrease speed as much as 40 percent after downloading the new 11.2.2 update.

New updates are not only causing phone speed to drop but also the battery.

"Anything with a battery will eventually have battery issues," said Collin Fitzsimmons, the manager at Computer Repair Doctor. "Batteries degrade overtime and you are going to lose that charge and full functionality overtime the longer you use that battery, the more you charge it, the more use it gets the less power it going to have.

Fitzsimmons goes on to say there is a lot of gray area when it comes to if it is legal for companies to slowdown your phone though updates.
