FRANKLIN CO., Fla. (WTXL) - Apalachicola Bay Charter School Principal Chimene Johnson was congratulated by her students and colleagues today for winning a big award.
She is one of six educators selected for the Florida TaxWatch Principal Leadership Award in 2015.
Annually, it honors the top two elementary, middle and high school principals in the state.
"This award validates what our teachers do on a daily basis to help students meet learning goals," said Principal Johnson. "The continued success of our students and school comes from a strong commitment to reach every child every day."
It's the only honor given to principals who exceed expected learning gains in reading and math for at-risk students in low-income, high-risk schools.
TaxWatch selects the winners through a data driven program.
