TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The 11th annual Tallahassee Police Unity Tour is here!
Monday, nearly 100 law enforcement officers and retirees came together for a fundraising golf tournament.
All proceeds from the event go toward the Tallahassee Police Department's Unity Tour, which brings awareness and honors officers who have died in the line of duty.
The Unity Tour is a nation-wide fundraiser for the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C.
Thousands of officers take part in bicycling to the Memorial, keeping the memory of fallen officers alive.
"We're there for the guys and the girls across the country who died in the line of duty," said Officer Rachelle Denmark. "They gave their life doing the job that we all have done and that we do, protecting our community, knowing that it may be us next time. "
Officer Denmark says riding in the Unity Tour is a way officers across the nation express their gratitude for the sacrifices fallen law enforcement officers and their families have made.
