If you've been procrastinating and still haven't filed your taxes this year you're not alone.

Apparently, lots of people are waiting to file their taxes this year.

Officials with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service said they have received 5.7-million fewer individual returns than they had at this point last year. That's an 8.5% drop.

The official filing deadline to submit your 2016 tax returns is Tuesday, April 18.

The deadline is later this year because April 15 falls on Saturday.

Taxpayers also have an additional day to file because Monday, April 17 is Emancipation Day, which is a Washington, D.C. holiday.
