TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Nims Middle School students are getting a special performance today from American Idol Contestant James Durbin.

Durbin is the new lead singer of Quiet Riot.

He also has Autism and Tourette Syndrome.

Accoring to organizers, Durbin performed as part of Leon County School's Embracing Differences Positively campaign.

"I think it's important for kids all over the county, any counties, to understand that wherever you are in your life, it's not where you're going to be for the rest of your life. This moment might suck but don't expand that into, 'man, my life sucks,' because this is a moment and this moment does not define you," say Durbin.

Durbin is also set to perform at Tallahassee Community College Friday.

Tickets are free.
