TALLAHASSEE, FLA. (WTXL) - A House panel passed a bill that would allow people with concealed-firearms licenses to carry guns on the campuses of state universities and colleges. This bill comes two months after the shooting at Florida State University's library, a pattern we've seen across the country, tragedy inspiring legal action.
Matthew Pietryka, who studies political attitudes and behavior says shootings often inspire people to turn to politics, because they're seeking guidance.
Pietrkya says many people ask for political change in wake of tragedies, but many times they can't determine what kind of change they want.
Pietrkya told us, "There's this big difference between people generally wanting change, and they don't necessarily want any particular change. When they really dive into the details of the policy, they find reasons to oppose the change."
