LEON COUNTY, FL (WTXL) - A pilot one year music program is set to launch in every fourth grade classroom in Leon County.
Last year, Tallahassee launched a pilot program of Link Up in title-one schools. Link Up is a partnership between Carnegie Hall, regional orchestras, and elementary schools.
Through this partnership, over 900 4th graders were able to learn to sing, play the recorder, as well as attain basic music knowledge.
With huge success in its pilot year, the Foundation for Leon County Public Schools have decided to extend Link Up to all 4th grade classrooms in the school district.
The county said it hoped to continue to grow the program each year and add on additional grades and music themes.
This year's Link Up concerts will take place May 22nd and 23rd in the Ruby Diamond Auditorium.
