JACKSON CO., Fla. (WTXL)- A 13-year-old boy from Alabama caught a record breaking catfish on the Chattahoochee River over the weekend.
Charles Patchen beat the previous record by more than 8 pounds with his 63.8 pound catch.
His mother and stepfather say he was reluctant to go out fishing with them Sunday. Patchen now says he is happy he changed his mind, "I'm glad my mom made me go fishing that day because now I am the catfish master!"
The previous certified state-record flathead catfish weighed 55.05 pounds.
