Alabama man killed in Jackson County crash

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - One person is dead after crashing his tractor into a car before crashing into a line of trees.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Ralph Edwards, 63, of Sardis, Alabama was traveling on U.S. 231 early Thursday morning when his Freightliner tractor crashed into the Subaru Legacy in front of him.

After hitting the car, the tractor continued going south into the grass shoulder hitting a wire fence before crashing into a line of trees.

The Subaru Legacy also traveled off the road following the collision, hitting a tree as well.

Edwards was pronounced dead on scene while the driver of the Subaru, identified as James Adams of Sneads, was transported to a hospital for minor injuries. 

Adams was later arrested on an outstanding warrant for violation of probation. The crash is still under investigation.
