TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Maybe you've seen these vines growing in your yard.

They're an invasive species known as the Air Potato Vine, and you might be wondering how to get them under control.

The FWC is working to get rid of the pesky plant with one of the beetles, and they're asking you to come out today and grab some if those vines have started to invade your yard.

The Air Potato Beetle only eats the air potato plant, meaning the vine can be controlled without any chemicals or unnatural methods.

Each person will get 10 to 15 beetles and start to see results quickly.

The event was held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, Center for Viticulture and Small Fruit Research, 6505 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee.

The beetles and plants come from China.

The plants made their way to Florida first, but researchers started to bring the bugs over in 2011.
