TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The School Health Advisory Council held a meeting concerning school health policies.

There are currently 3 policies the council feels the school district should focus on his school year in order to help put the district on a healthier path.

The policies include 150 minutes of physical exercise each week per student, a ban of unhealthy foods being sold for fundraisers and a policy that prohibits giving out candy as rewards for students.

Members of the council say it is possible to incorporate these policies and that the importance of these changes is crucial for student's health over a lifetime.

Sheila Costigan with the council says, "Your children's health; you can't put a measurement on that, you can't put a price tag on that. Families have got to embrace this, they've got to understand that their child's life depends on it."
