Valdosta, GA - On November 28, 2013, a 40 year old Valdosta resident was seriously injured when he ran a stop sign located at the intersection of Brookwood Place and North Troupe Street. The vehicle he was driving traveled across a grass field, struck a utility pole, struck a dirt embankment, and then went through the back block wall of a building located at 1405 North Lee Street. The building houses Mr. B's Market.
The building sustained moderate damage. The driver of the vehicle was the sole occupant of the vehicle and no one else was injured. The driver sustained serious injuries and was transported by a medical helicopter to a Tallahassee hospital. The driver is in critical condition.
Valdosta Fire Department and Lowndes County EMS assisted with the call. The Valdosta Police Department traffic unit is conducting the investigation of this accident and charges are pending at this time.
