TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - As rain continues to fall in some areas, AAA officials say those on the roadways need to be careful.
The field manager, W.D. Williams, of Tallahassee's AAA office says it's important to drive smart, especially when dealing with potential flooding, "if the road is flooded in front of you, try to avoid it if all possible. You don't know how deep the water is, and you don't know what's under the water's surface, and so, you don't want to end up stalling your vehicle and damaging your vehicle."
AAA also says going slower gives drivers more reaction time. Wet roads means it'll take a longer distance for vehicles to stop or turn compared to dry roads.
Some other tips for drivers make sure your tires have plenty of tread on them.
Also make sure your wipers are in good shape with visibility being a key concern and always drive with your headlights on whenever it's raining. The agency also says that if you don't have to be on the roads, it's best to stay off them until the weather clears up.
