ORLANDO, Fla. - About half of Florida's veterans are senior citizens, and a plurality fought in the Vietnam War.
Figures released Tuesday by the U.S. Census Bureau show that almost a third of Florida's veterans are from the Vietnam War era.
About a quarter were veterans during peacetime eras, and about 15 percent were from the first Gulf War era.
The Census also says 7.4 percent of Florida's veterans are female, slightly higher than the national rate.
