TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A delegation is in Tallahassee this week, to bring a national anti crime effort to the capital city.
Throughout this week, members with Cure Violence are speaking with residents throughout Tallahassee, to raise awareness about the benefits of the initiative.
Tuesday kicked off the start of a series of public forums taking place this week to address what Tallahassee needs to do to eliminate crime in the city. The cure violence executive director, Lori Toscano and the national director Frank Perez are visiting Tallahassee this week and are participating in the meetings.
The cure violence initiative looks to cure violence similar to curing a disease. The model was created at a school in Chicago, and has some community members wondering about how this type of model can benefit a city like Tallahassee. Business owner, and gun council member Gloria Pugh says the method produces results.
There is another meeting being held Wednesday at the Challenger Learning Center from 2 - 4pm, and at the Lincoln Neighborhood Center frmo 6:30 8:30pm.
