TALLAHASSEE, FL. (WTXL) - Tallahassee's Bethel A.M.E. Church is hosting more than 2,000 people this week for the Florida Annual Conference.

This week's conference marks the 150th Anniversary of the A.M.E. Church in the state Florida, in the panhandle, and in the Capital City. To celebrate the occasion, church leaders marched from King Solomon Drive back to the church. They say the 150th Anniversary is symbolic of the end of slavery in the state, allowing the church to be established.

The church parade Monday morning started at Wahnish Way. They chose the route because the feeder streets along it feature the names of historic leaders in the church, including the late residing elder King Solomon Dupont and the late presiding Elder R. C. Snellings.
