TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A dog will soon be looking for a forever home  after being fitted for two prosthetic legs.

The Tallahassee Animal Service Center first met Dan when he came in as a stray in March. They say that Dan's back legs and paws were seriously injured and very infected.

Thanks to the "A Dollar for Dan" fundraiser, Dan was able to undergo multiple skin grafts to try to rehabilitate his legs. The organizations says that Dan finished up the surgeries in June.

Dan was then fitted with prosthetic devices and taught to walk with them.

Now the Animal Service Center reports that Dan is nearly ready to find his perfect home.

The center says that once Dan gets back to the shelter from Capital Veterinary Specialists, they will be looking to place him into a foster home to get him used to life outside the hospital again.

After that, the organization says that they will be looking for his forever home.

The center wrote that, "Dan has certainly beat the odds, and we're so excited to be a part of his journey."
