TALLAHASSEE, FLA. - Memorial day is a day to honor and recognize those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom that we have today.
Saturday the group 'Never Forgotten' and The Buffalo Soldiers came together to make sure those who served are truly never forgotten.
"Every veteran deserved a flag on their grave," said John Vickers, who served in the US Army.
A sweet gesture to make sure those that are gone are not forgotten.
That was the mission Saturday as hundreds of volunteers joined together at the Southside Cemetery in Tallahassee.
"Everyone that's here today is out here on pure respect," said Vickers.
Volunteers placed flags on the graves of those brave men and women who fought for the freedoms we enjoy today.
"Today is about our fallen brothers and sisters who didn't return home to their families, so it touches me in a very special way," said Jodie Cahoon, a Veteran.
So that we may never forget what Memorial day is really about.
" Memorial day is a day of recognition for those who gave their life for this country," said Vickers.
Organizers say they will continue to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and will have this event again next year.
