A Florida man told police his dog is to blame for shooting his girlfriend, WJAX-TV in Jacksonville reported.
Brian Murphy said he was asleep with his girlfriend, Summer Miracle, when their dog, Diesel, woke him up to go outside. When they returned, Murphy said Diesel jumped onto the nightstand and caused a gun resting there to go off, shooting Miracle.
Miracle was shot in the leg, and is expected to be okay.
She was asleep at the time of the shooting and cannot verify Murphy's story, though police have not charged him.
