Morgan County businesses, schools and civic groups are hoping to fill local food pantries with a food drive that begins this week.
The Barrels of Love food drive gets underway Feb. 14 and runs until March 3.
Nonperishable food can be dropped off in the barrels and boxes that are set up at participating locations. The food will be distributed to the food pantries at the Salvation Army and the Committee on Church Cooperation, as well as food programs for Morgan County and Decatur City schools.
Organizers are hoping for 50,000 food item donations this year.
Businesses or groups that want to participate can pick up barrels or boxes at Ingalls Harbor in Decatur beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14.
