MIDWAY, Fla. - A new Senior Citizen Center will soon take shape in Midway.

Local officials will attend a ground breaking ceremony at the future site of the facility on Wednesday, January 5. The USDA and the agency's Rural Development program will fund the construction of the building. Officials from the departments will be on hand to present leaders with a check.

Angelia Goldwire with the City of Midway says that residents and officials are "overjoyed" to receive funding for the senior center.

The groundbreaking and check presentation will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will take place at 50 Martin Luther King Boulevard in Midway.

Later in the day, the Wetumpka Fire Department will also receive a presentation from the USDA and Rural Development. The department will dedicate their new fire truck. The dedication will be held at the Wetumpka Volunteer Fire Department in Quincy.
