LAKE CITY, Fla. (AP) — A baby has been injured after an oak tree fell on a Florida home during a strong storm, crashing through the ceiling where she slept.
WJAX-TV reports the 9-month-old girl was taken to a hospital near Lake City, west of Jacksonville.
Monika Taylor-Doll said she had to lift a sheetrock that fell on her daughter while she was sleeping. She said the baby looked fine and was taken to the hospital as a precaution, suffering only from a few scratches.
A strong storm system barreled through the South and was also blamed for the Friday death of an 8-year-old girl in Woodville, south of Tallahassee. A 12-year-old boy was also injured.
