PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) — Hurricane Michael forced the cancellation of homecoming for Florida's Bay High School, but thanks to a community effort the 2019 prom is all set.
This week students from the high school in Panama City hauled wall dividers, tables, chairs and dance floor pieces to a large travel trailer. It will be assembled at a donated venue where the "Enchanted Garden" themed prom will take place this weekend.
The October storm destroyed the venue the school had planned to use for the prom.
The school's student government adviser Megan Todd tells the News Herald that fundraising came to a "screeching halt."
Clay Keels, owner of Signature Weddings and Events, says the community pitched in because "everybody wanted it to be a great prom for the kids."
