LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) — A death investigation is underway after a longtime employee at a local concrete company was found shot to death inside his home.
The Lowndes County Sheriff's office says that Billy Belle, a longtime employee of Griffin Concrete Company, was found dead from a gunshot wound at his home on Harter Avenue at Madison Highway.
Deputies say when he didn't report for work Monday morning, a co-worker went to his house and found him. The co-worker then called 911.
LCSO says Belle was last seen alive around lunch on Saturday, so they think he died sometime between then and early Monday morning.
The body was sent to GBI for an autopsy. The sheriff is waiting on additional information.
