VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - A woman has been hospitalized after getting hit by a drunk driver in Valdosta.
The Valdosta Police Department says that on Friday afternoon, a 21-year-old woman was riding a moped northbound on Bemiss Road, stopping near the intersection of Heirs Road behind a sport utility vehicle.
Johnny Williams, 62, who officers say was driving a 2004 Dodge Durango, was driving north when he hit the moped from behind, pinning the driver between his car and the utility vehicle in front of her.
The driver of the moped was rushed to a local hospital, where she remains stable condition.
After an investigation, Williams was determined to be at fault in the accident and was arrested for driving under the influence, open container and following too closely.
He is currently being held at the Lowndes County Jail.
