Port Charlotte woman wins half a million dollars in Florida lottery

Charlotte County, Fla. - The Florida Lottery announces that Debra Maletich, 53, of Port Charlotte, claimed a top prize in the $500,000 FLAMINGO MULTIPLIER Scratch-Off game at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.

Maletich purchased her winning ticket from Publix, located at 24051 Peachland Boulevard in Port Charlotte. “I never thought I would ever win the Lottery,” said Maletich. “How lucky am I to have won $500,000!”

The $5 game, $500,000 FLAMINGO MULTIPLER launched on January 12 and features more than 7.5 million winning tickets and more than $113 million in total cash prizes! The game's overall odds of winning are one-in-4.23.

Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery's portfolio of games, comprising approximately 67 percent of ticket sales and generating more than $632 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in fiscal year 2014-15.
