TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- Aspiring entrepreneurs should never underestimate the power of proper planning and goal setting.

That's something that Susie Busch-Transou knows is true. Busch-Transou is the owner of local antique store, Hearth & Soul.

She stopped by WTXL Sunrise for another edition of Your Career to discuss tips for aspiring business owners and entrepreneurs. Click the thumbnail to see the entire interview.

The Hearth & Soul owner says business beginners should consider these points when mapping out their entrepreneurial goals:

  • Choose a line of work that you love
  • Do things that build your confidence... Hold your head high.. Sit up straight.. Look others in the eye.. Have a firm handshake.
  • Don't take work related conflict personally.. Learn and grow and always be respectful
  • Treat everyone equally.. Respond to every inquiry ... In a timely manner.. Be dependable
  • Honesty is always the best policy
  • The friend philosophy as a guide to how to treat others
  • Surround yourself with great people and appreciate them!
  • Get involved in your community/organizations/non profits - network
  • Internships
  • Know your gifts/skills - work to improve skills that are not as strong but necessary/valuable to your area of interest
  • Be wise about social media and how you present yourself - potential employers/clients are watching
  • Be prepared to work hard - motivated/successful women or men don't just work 9-5 - but at the same time it's important to have balance as burn out is a real threat in today's 24/7 world
