TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Here's a chance for a career that can make you feel out of this world.

The Challenger Learning Center is "the K-12 outreach facility of the Florida A&M University - Florida State University College of Engineering and uses aerospace as a theme to foster long-term interest in math, science and technology, create positive learning experiences and motivate students to pursue careers in these fields."

And if you have a love of space, but aren't quite qualified to be an astronaut, this can be a great place to get your feet off the ground.

The Challenger Learning Center features a state-of-the-art Space Mission Simulator, and you can become a Flight Director to lead community crews when they step on board.

There are also many opportunities for a career in STEM fields, or Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, over the past 10 years, growth in STEM jobs was three times as fast as growth in non-STEM jobs. Plus, STEM workers are less likely to experience joblessness than their non-STEM counterparts.

Right now, Challenger has various employment opportunities in a variety of areas: Part-time Employment Internships; Flight Director; Marketing/Event Planning; Guest Services; Graphic Artist & Layout; Web Design; Information Technology; Education Department and Accounting.

TheCenter is always accepting applications. Fill out a FAMU Job Application and bring it to the Challenger Learning Center Administrative Offices. Staff will  hold your application for one year and do interviews and hiring on an as-needed basis.

The Challenger Learning Center is located at 200 S. Duval Street.
