TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Getting prepared for back to school isn't just about school supplies. A new school year also needs an updated information sheet for your school nurse.
Experts say it's important a school nurse gets updated information as it happens, especially at the start of the school year, but also anytime something changes - even a phone number.
School nurses need to be aware of any heath conditions that may require special attention or assistance during the day. That includes, among other things, asthma, seizures, allergies and EpiPens, diabetes, ADD/ADHD and any medications or dosing needed.
Nurses should also have current information on file about your child's healthcare provider and update phone numbers for parents and emergency contacts.
