Infused water
Posted

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- March is National Nutrition Month, and we're learning about how little changes can make a big impact.

Dietitian Amy Mullins joined us for What's To Eat, showing us the best way to infuse water.  Mullins says this is an easy way to make sure you're getting enough fluids everyday, with adding in extra sugar and calories.

Remember you can catch What's To Eat every Friday morning on WTXL Sunrise.

Here's Mullins recipes:

Strawberries and Basil Infused Water

Ingredients:

- ½ cup fresh strawberries, chopped

- 3 basil leaves

- 2 quarts water

Directions:

1. Remove the tops of the strawberries.

2. Add berries and basil to the pitcher.

3. Add water.

4. Chill for 2 to 4 hours.

This water is beautiful to look at, and is filled with nutrients your body needs: iron, vitamin C, vitamin A, beta-carotene, flavonoids, copper, vitamin K, manganese, fiber, and antioxidants.

Cucumber and Mint Infused Water

Ingredients:

- ½ sliced cucumber

- ½ sliced lime

- ¼ cup fresh mint leaves

- 2 quarts water

Directions:

1. Add 2 quarts water to container

2. Using a filter or infuser, filter the mint into the water.

3. Using a filter or infuser, filter the cucumber into the water.

4. Add the lime slices to the water and chill for 2 to 4 hours.

This is strong water with lots of bold flavors. Cucumbers are 90% water. They contain vitamin B, calcium, potassium, magnesium, fiber, and folate.
