VALDOSTA, GA -- The Valdosta City Council unanimously approved the budget for 2017/2018 fiscal year Thursday.
The $97 million budget was presented with no property tax increase. Last year’s budget totaled $89 million in expenses with this year’s budget seeing a 9% increase.
Increases are for areas such as capital projects and a 1.25% raise for city employees. City leaders say this increase will not cost tax payers. According to the city, citizens should start to notice changes in the community over the next year.
The new budget will take effect July 1st.
