TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) -- There's a new world record for longest hover board flight on record. The jet skier, Franky Zapata, flew nearly 74 hundred feet, that's more than a mile. That's much farther than the previous record of only 905 feet. It all happened off the coast of France with Guinness world record keepers watching. The board took four years to develop and is fueled by four 250 horse power turbo engine and is very hard to stabilize.
There's a new way to stay fashionable and be environmentally friendly at the same time. It's a substitute for leather called "Pinatex", made solely from pineapple leaves! The process takes the leaves and separates them into long fibers which are then woven into different products. The company makes purses, shoes, seat covers and more. And they come in charcoal, brown and gold.
Playing sports we learn how important teamwork is, and the robots are catching on. Researchers at Berkley have taught what they call "velociroaches" how to cooperate to climb stairs. They use magnets to connect their bionic limbs. Other robots have been able to climb stairs, but it usually takes many sensors and expensive motors, meanwhile the "velociroaches" are simple and cheap.
