TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- We took to the skies for this Tech Smart on Sunrise Thursday morning.
David Merrick, the director of USA programs at Florida State University, stopped by for a closer look at the university's new drone program.
Starting in the spring 2015 semester, the school's Emergency Management and Homeland Security departments are offering Introduction to Unmanned Aircraft Systems. It'll address a growing need for drone operators, and give students a closer look at emergencies and weather events, like flooding.
There's still time for students to sign up for the class. For all the details on getting involved, watch the video.
