TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- The Tallahassee Marathon is going mobile.
Everything you need to know about the 43rd annual run can now fit in the palm of your hand.
"Sixty-percent of runners run with their iPhone, so this is going to be something that they're going to be having during training, during the race, after the race. We want to make sure to stay connected with them the whole time," said race director Elizabeth Rosario.
Organizers say they looked at different - and bigger - runs to see what Tallahassee might be missing, and TLH Marathon is the answer.
The app features everything from a countdown clock to information about groups the race supports.
And don't forget the social aspect. According to Running USA, nearly half of all runners like to share their progress on social media, and now it's easier than ever.
"It'll be quick and easy for them to just check out information regarding the expo, race dates, times, social media... and most importantly how to register," said Rosario.
The app also features a map highlighting the new course which, for the first time ever, takes runners across the Cascades Park Pedestrian Bridge.
That bridge will take the runners right to FAMU Way, showing off the city to the more than 1,000 expected to take part.
"We are totally linking the city next year. That's something we weren't able to do this past February," said Rosario.
The Tallahassee Marathon is set for Sunday, February 5, and registration is now open.
The Tallahassee Marathon app officially launched this week. It's free for both Android and iOS devices
