TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - In light of the recent tragedy that occurred in Orlando this week, a team of comfort dogs from Chicago have traveled to the city in hopes of bringing a bit of sunshine to the broken-hearted and injured victims.

Today on Second Cup we decided to share stories of dogs stepping up and making very courageous rescues.

Some of our canine heroes include Brutis, a 7-year-old golden retriever who snatched up a coral snake as it was slithering dangerously close to a young child and Shana, who diligently dug a tunnel in the snow after her elderly owners became trapped in a snowstorm.

In 2008 Maya the pit bull was awarded Dog of the Year after courageously rescuing her owner from a vicious male attacker.

Belle the beagle also became the first dog to win Vita's Wireless Samaritan Award after saving biting "911" into her owner's cell phone after he collapsed from a seizure.
