(WTXL) — Ms. Mereya Quintana and Dr. Tonetta Scott with the Tallahassee Food Network, Tallahassee Youth for Change joined ABC 27 Monday morning to tell us about the 9th annual Youth Symposium on Food & Hunger.

Initiative The Youth Symposium on Food & Hunger is a community based, family driven and youth centered initiative that brings a broad range of attention to pressing community issues.

The 2019 Youth Symposium focus is on children's mental health. The initiative is an interactive activity that will engage youth and family voices throughout Tallahassee communities to discuss and offer ideas and strategies for change.

In response to youth voices we partnered with state government and other partners to train and certify 56 community residents in Youth Mental Health First Aid.

This year they intend to use this community capacity to engage community youth and adults in conversation about children's mental health.
