MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) - Dr. Niraj Pandit, an interventional cardiologist, stopped by Second Cup on Thursday to talk about heart health.

The doctor visited the WTXL studios a day ahead of National Wear Red Day and the beginning of Heart Month, highlighted by the American Heart Association.

He spoke with WTXL ABC 27 Sunrise Anchor Christine Souders.

The American Heart Association is the leading voluntary health organization devoted to a world of longer, healthier lives.

Together with its Go Red for Women movement, the heart association is asking people to "wear red and give" to support Go Red for Women on National Wear Red Day: Friday, February 1.

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, taking more lives than all forms of cancer combined.
