TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Some lucky youngsters will soon be going to a winter camp to learn about high-tech equipment and space exploration.
WTXL ABC Sunrise Anchor Malcolm Hornsby spoke with Samantha Reaves about the upcoming Camp Challenger: Winter Break Camp.
The event will be held December 27 - 28, 2018, and January 2 - 4 of 2019, at the Challenger Learning Center, 200 S. Duval St.
It will cost $40 per student per day.
Reaves says the event will provide campers fun in a safe and educational atmosphere.
Challenger focuses campers' attention with a ratio of at least one educator for every eight children.
The K-5 STEAM-themed camps feature hands-on activities led by experienced educators
Winter break themes include Exploration: Deep Space, Investigating Illumination, Musical Madness, Winter Wonders, Engineering Edventures and Christa’s Lost Lessons.
The young campers will also act as scientists and engineers aboard the space mission simulator.
Other activities include making musical instruments, exploring the science of harsh cold conditions, using lasers and prisms, and designing roller coasters.
