TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- In these increasingly-digital days, it's important to back-up your files.

Tech expert Blake Dowling from Aegis Business Technology joined us for edition of Tech Smart.

Dowling says it's important to find different ways to back-up, and saving your important documents in different formats, like cloud and external devices.

Backing up your files can not only save your data in case your laptop crashes, it can be a life-saver in case of disaster recovery if you fall victim to a hacker or scammer.

Dowling also reminds you to actually be sure that your back-ups are working. Check your cloud and external devices to make sure your files are being transferred correctly and can be be opened and edited.

It's also a good idea to check into your cloud service, and look for a company that provides Tier 4 support.
