TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Have you ever wondered where the electricity that powers your home comes from?

On Sunday, October 5, the City of Tallahassee is letting the public come find out the answer to that very question by holding an open house at the Hopkins Power Plant.

The public is being invited to learn about electricity generation and distribution as well as how power gets to our community. The event is sponsored by Your Own Utilities, and is celebrating Public Power and Public Natural Gas weeks.

The event runs from 1pm until 5 pm at 1125 Geddie Rd. There will be tours, field demonstrations, energy efficiency tips and information booths.
