TALLAHASSEE, FL - In Pinterest Party, Wood Junkies showed WTXL's Christine Souders and Malcolm Hornsby how to work with cabinetry.

Wood Junkies specializes in restoration, hand painting and faux finishes for furniture and cabinetry.

Amber McKee is the owner of Wood Junkies took us through the DIY steps to restore cabinets and make it look like it was done by a professional.

McKee said it's all about coming up with a plan and having the confidence to tackle project.

A "Wood Junkie" is someone who is passionate about restoring wood instead of throwing it away.

Here's how you do it:

Clean the wood.

Crosshatching paint is the first step, it's a quick motion back and forth in all different directions. It creates a textured look.

McKee uses chalk paint.

Use the brush to feather it out and cover the whole cabinet.

McKee teaches people how to do it in the Kitchen Cabinetry Workshop happening August 7th.

It's from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Go to http://www.woodjunkies.com/ for more details.
