Pinterest Party - Salad Jar

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A lack of planning for weekday lunches can leave a hungry worker settling for a soggy lunch or greasy fast food.

WTXL ABC 27 Sunrise anchor Kellie Bartoli taught us her simple way to keeping her salad fresh for lunch time: storing it in a mason jar. The trick is all in how you put the ingredients in.

Start by putting your salad dressing in the bottom of the jar. Then layer in your favorite vegetables, like tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers and bell peppers. Make sure your veggies come up over the dressing line; this creates the barrier protecting your lettuce from getting soggy.

Now add your lettuce, filling the jar to the rim. When it's time to eat, all you have to do is shake until your salad is covered by dressing, and then empty into a bowl.
