NEW YORK (AP) — Move over Barbie. Elsa, Anna and the rest of the "Frozen" characters are the top toy for girls this holiday season.
The results marked the first time in 11 years that Barbie hasn't held the No. 1 spot in an annual survey from the National Retail Federation .
The NRF's Holiday Top Toys Survey found that one in five parents, or 20 percent, plans to buy "Frozen" merchandise for their girls. That beats the 16.8 percent that are looking to make a Barbie purchase.
Sales of Mattel Inc.'s Barbie have continued to slip, while "Frozen" merchandise remains popular a year after the Disney movie's release.
For boys, the NRF said that the No. 1 spot is again held by LEGO toys.
The NRF survey, which was released Monday, polled 6,593 consumers.
