TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - If you are looking for an easy deterrent to keep burglars out of your vehicle, the answer may be more obvious than you realized.
According to Officer Scott Beck from the Tallahassee Police Department, the number one way to avoid being the victim of an auto burglary is to lock your car doors.
This may seem obvious but remembering the keep the doors locked, even if you are only away from your car for a few minutes, can keep your vehicle safe.
Another tip to remember is to take the extra valet key out of your manual in your glove box. This can prevent criminals from coming back to take the whole car in the future.
If you are the victim of an auto burglary, make sure you call the local authorities even if it looks like nothing has been taken, that way you have a report if you have problems later.
