TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Social media can be a great place to show off your hunting and fishing photos. But if that's all you want to do, it can be tricky to navigate through the other posts.
So the app Hunt Fish Share is working to fix that problem. It lets users share pictures and talk about their latest trip outdoors.
"The beauty is that it's not all clouded up with crazy advertisements and all that stuff that you have to go through that you care nothing about. It's just raw, solid hunting and fishing," said the app's founder and CEO David Whitfield.
But it's not just a place to post pictures. The app is aimed at helping connect hunters and fishers who are looking for a new adventure.
Whitfield explains: "They'd really like to go deer hunting, but they only have a good place to go turkey hunting. Then you find people who have a really good place to kill alligators, but they don't have anywhere to deer hunt. So the idea was to put all those people together."
Users can post their own trips and then see if anyone wants to tag along in return for a different type of excursion.
"If I had a chance to go grouper fishing this weekend, and I have an extra spot on the boat somebody else who might be going turkey hunting next weekend and might who want to go grouper fishing this weekend... so on this app we could swap those trips," said Dustin Rivest of App Innovators.
And there are no limits to where you can go.
The app creators say one of the more popular swaps right now are for alligator hunts, with people coming from all over the U.S. to try and track one down.
"A lot of people aren't good at networking. They have a hard time reaching out or talking to people about things, and what this app does is it makes it easier for them to do that," said Whitfield.
Rivest added: "Me and David might not be friends on Facebook, but on Hunt Fish Share we are seeing each other stuff because we have one common interest, hunting and fishing and everything around that. So this app allows you to do that really well."
Hunt Fish Share is free to download for both iOS and Android devices.
