In comedy, timing is everything.
Less than six months after a gunman killed 26 people inside Sandy Hook Elementary School, Treehouse Comedy Productions plans to put on a show in Newtown, Conn., to benefit victims.
The event, "Stand up for Newtown," will be held June 7.
Treehouse founder Brad Axelrod says he thought about doing a benefit immediately after the Dec. 14 shooting, but comedy didn't seem appropriate then.
But he says now he believes people in the community are ready to laugh again.
Axelrod says the show won't reference the shooting or include political comedy about guns.
The proceeds are going to the local police union and the Newtown Lions Club, which is raising money to help pay for mental health services for those affected by the shooting.
