TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — It was a welcome home fit for a hero. With the band swinging, and the crowd too, anticipation for the plane carrying more than 150 vets, guardians, and EMT's grew with the setting sun.

Then finally, the plane touches down, and off comes the heroes back from their journey.

Thanks to Honor Flight Tallahassee, WWII, Vietnam, and Korean War veterans got a full day of touring the Nation's Capitol for free.

"I was scheduled for the trip once before but didn't go. I didn't think much of it," said Sgt. Augusta Carter.

Now 91 year old Sgt. Augusta Carter is singing high praises for the trip and he's not alone.

"My wife tried to get me to go for years. I ought to kick myself for not going earlier," said Nathaniel Bradford.

To Nathaniel Bradford, visiting those monuments and honors meant the world to him.

"I've never been treated better by a group of people," said Bradford.

From start to finish, the day was full of surprises.

"I couldn't have won a better trip off the price is right," said Bradford.

All thanks to this the Honor Flight, American Heroes are getting a special thank you for their service.
