JACKSON COUNTY, FL (WTXL) - — Multiple fire crews responded to a brush fire in Jackson County that burned more than 57 acres of land.

Florida Forest Service said it happened around 10:30 a.m. near Brushy Pond Road and Blount Road. Fire officials said that's when an excavator sparked and caught fire.

Florida Forest Service said the fire spread quickly to the surrounding vegetation because of the dry heat and lack of rain. Florida Forest Service estimated about 57 acres were burned.

Several fire departments are still on scene trying to control the fire, including Jackson County Fire Rescue and Sneads Volunteer Fire Department.

No buildings were affected. No one was hurt.
