MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) - COPS is a mindset among the Tallahassee Police Department. It stands for community oriented policing squad.
The officers take part in a training module to remind them they are servants to the community.
There are also three specific squads that work in the community, and spend time in different neighborhoods. They talk to neighborhood leaders to find out what issues they are dealing with.
These officers ride bicycles. They're doing law enforcement work but you might see them stop by to play a game of basketball with children.
Over the last several years, they've expanded from one COP squad to three.
